E-mail Configuration


We provide POP3, IMAP and Webmail access to all email accounts on our system. Basic connection settings should be as follows.

 

POP3 or IMAP Server mail.hutman.net
SMTP Server
mail.hutman.net

Webmail URL

http://mail.hutman.net

Your username will be your full email address and your password was assigned when you started service. Please call if you need a password lookup.

 

*Please use basic authentication if you're accessing from outside of our network

Spam Filter Configuration


Our system now includes much improved spam filtering capabilities. You will want to adjust your email settings to take advantage of the filter. The PDF guides linked below will give you some guidance for configuring your software.



Application Specific Setup Guides

Mozilla Thunderbird


Mozilla Thunderbird is a very nice email client from mozilla.org . It's integrated spam filtering beats most systems available. Setup steps:

  1. Click Edit->Account Settings
  2. Click the  Add Account button to start the new account wizard.
  3. Choose Email account and click Next
  4. Enter your name and email address - this will determine your reply information.
  5. Select either POP or IMAP for server type (POP will pull messages from our server and IMAP will keep mail store on our system).
  6. Enter mail.hutman.net for both the incoming and outgoing server and click Next
  7. Use your full email address for your username and click Next.
  8. Enter an account name (this is just for your reference) and click Next.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. Click OK to close the account settings screen.

Outlook Configuration (XP/2003)


To configure Outlook (XP/2003) follow these steps. 

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click Tools->Email Accounts.
  3. Choose "Add a new e-mail account" and click next.
  4. Choose POP3 or IMAP for your Server Type. Click next.
  5. Fill in the settings page with your information. Use "mail.hutman.net" for both incoming and outgoing servers. In the username field be sure to enter your full email address.
  6. Click the "More Settings ..." button.
  7. Click the "Outgoing Server" tab and check the box which says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
  8. Click OK and then click Next to complete the wizard.
  9. Click finish to start using the account.

 


Outlook Express Configuration


To set up Outlook Express use the following steps:

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click Tools->Accounts
  3. Click Add->Mail...
  4. Fill in your name and click next.
  5. Enter your email address and click next.
  6. Choose either POP3 or IMAP as your mail server type. Fill in "mail.hutman.net" for both your incoming and outgoing server setting. Click next.
  7. Fill in your email address for the account name and enter your password. Click next.
  8. Click finish.
  9. Your new mail account will now appear in the account list. To set SMTP authentication, hightlight your account and click "Properties".
  10. Click the Servers tab and check the box on the dialog which says "My server requires authentication."
  11. Click OK and then Close to finish.
